Pomegranate Mela Koehler Boxed Notecards- Boxed Cards

20 blank notecards, 5 each of 4 designs, with envelopes in decorative box.

Melanie Leopoldina Koehler-Broman (Austrian, 1885–1960), the creator of the four fanciful illustrations selected for this notecard assortment, was best known as Mela Koehler. She studied with designer Koloman Moser, who later cofounded the Wiener Werkstätte (Vienna Workshop), a cooperative enterprise for architects, artists, and artisans inspired by the British Arts and Crafts movement. Koehler—a designer of graphic works, fabrics, and ceramics, as well as an illustrator—stood out as one of the workshop’s stars.
Koehler created about 150 fashion postcards. They were not advertisements for clothes but drawings of fantasy outfits intended to inspire women to experiment with their attire.
